Kekova Tour
We begin our journey early in the morning, heading towards the Demre district. After a 1.5-hour drive through the stunning Mediterranean landscape, we reach the ancient city of Myra, renowned for its Lycian Period Rock Tombs and Roman Period Theatre. This city has a rich history, dating back to the 5th century BC, as evidenced by rock tombs, inscriptions, and coins. During the Byzantine period, Myra was not only an administrative center but also a leading city in terms of religion. St. Nicholas (Santa Claus) also lived in this city as the bishop in the 4th century AD, and a church was later built in his name.
The church, constructed in the 6th century AD, is not only a place of worship but also significant because it houses the sarcophagus of St. Nicholas (Santa Claus). The frescoes, renovated in recent years, showcase the most beautiful examples of iconic art, which our guests can admire.
After visiting the ancient city and church of St. Nicholas, we proceed to Çayağazi port (also known as Üçağız port), where we embark on a unique deep blue tour on wooden boats typical of the region. This two-hour tour offers an opportunity to view the sunken city of Kekova, surrounded by ruins. During the tour, you can see sunken shops, half-submerged houses, and stairs leading down to the sea. If weather and sea conditions permit, we may take a short swimming break. After this historical boat tour, we return to the port and depart for our hotel at 4:00 PM.
